Custom Carding for Handspinners

Card Sliver: Your fiber picked open, carded and gathered into one continuous strand. Card sliver is approximately 50 yards per pound with random fiber orientation in the fiber bundle to produce a woolen type of handspun yarn. Our card sliver is wound into a neat round pile so you can pull it without adding twist.

Hand Spinner's Sliver: Further processing to produce a lighter weight continuous strand of 100-150 yards per pound. Fibers are drawn into parallel orientation for worsted style spinning by running the sliver through our pin drafter. Hand spinner's sliver drafts smoothly to facilitate high speed hand spinning and splits easily to spin finer yarns.
